Urs at Hinda Shahi Mosque: Food arranged for 50,000 devotees in Khetlal

The annual Urs Mubarak of Khwaja Shah Ma Shahen Shah Pak (R.A.) was observed with spiritual fervor at the historic Hinda Shahi Mosque in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat, drawing thousands of devotees from across the country.
The mosque premises in Borail union's Hinda village and adjacent areas wore a festive look as followers began gathering early in the morning. The day-long event featured religious discussions, special prayers, and zikir, alongside a massive feast organized for visitors.
According to the organizing committee, arrangements were made to feed around 50,000 people—30,000 at noon and 20,000 at night. The grand menu required 120 maunds of rice, 70 maunds of pulses, and 280 kg of meat.
Morning visitors were served khichuri prepared with 2 maunds of rice and 1 maund of pulses. The afternoon meal comprised plain rice, booter dal, and meat, using 81 maunds of rice, 50 maunds of pulses, and 140 kg of meat. Another batch of khichuri was planned for the night using 35 maunds of rice, 15 maunds of pulses, and 140 kg of meat.
As a special highlight, 10 maunds of milk, 41 kg of rice, and 120 kg of sugar were used to prepare payesh for the attendees.
Golam Mustafa, treasurer of the mosque management committee, said dedicated teams of volunteers worked throughout the day to ensure orderly cooking, serving, and crowd control.
