The upazila administration has distributed checks as cash assistance to 10 families who were burnt to death in a fire at a shelter center in Devgram Union of Goalando Upazila of Rajbari.
On Monday at1:30 pm, UNO Md. Nahidur Rahman handed over a cheques of Tk 7,500 to each of the 10 affected families allocated by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief in front of Shed No. 7 of Tenapancha No. 1 Shelter Project in Devgram Union.
Also present at the time were Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Abu Bakar, Upazila Social Service Officer and Debgram Union Parishad Administrator Md. Ruhul Amin.
At that time, UNO Nahidur Rahman said, on September 29 at around 3 am, a sudden fire broke out in the shelter center, leaving 10 families destitute. We immediately delivered dry food to these families. Today, with the support of the Ministry of Disaster and Relief, we handed over 10 cheques of 7,500 taka to 10 families, which will help them meet their urgent needs to some extent.
