The Islami Bank Consumer Forum has held a human chain program in Satkhira demanding the cancellation of illegal appointments and investments in Islami Bank. The program was held in front of the head office of Islami Bank at Tufan Company intersection in Satkhira city on Monday  morning.

Speakers at the human chain alleged that S Alam Group had pushed the country's banking sector down the path of corruption by illegally appointing candidates from the Chittagong region to various banks, including Islami Bank, from 2017 to 2024. They claimed that these appointments had severely damaged the quality of service and deprived qualified candidates from other districts of the country.

The speakers said that after taking over Islami Bank, S Alam Group has employed more than 7,200 people, of whom about 4,500 are residents of Patiya Upazila of Chittagong. They misbehave with local customers and speak in regional languages, which is causing disruption to customer service.

Dr. Ruhul Farhad, businessman Md. Abdul Halim, Md. Sunny Abdullah, job seekers Md. Abdus Samad and Al Mamun, and many others were present at the human chain.

At this time, the speakers demanded that the qualifications of all the officers and employees appointed by the S Alam Group be verified and new appointments from all over the country be made based on merit.

The speakers also said that the bank authorities organized an exam to evaluate the skills of those officers on September 27 through the IBA of Dhaka University, but more than 5,000 officers refused to participate in the exam. As a result, the bank authorities made 4,971 people OSD and dismissed about 400 officers.

The speakers sought government intervention to cancel illegal appointments and keep the Islamic Bank free from political and regional influence.
