Kotalipara Upazila Parishad Lake in Gopalganj has been beautifully transformed with vibrant decorations and a new look. Once a dumping ground filled with garbage and water hyacinth, the lake has now turned into a visually captivating spot.
A footwalk has been constructed around the lake, and over a hundred colorful stools have been placed along the banks for visitors to sit and relax. The adjacent road has been renovated for smooth movement. To enhance the lake’s charm, four attractive paddle boats have been launched.
On Sunday, UNO Sagufata Haque inaugurated the lake beautification work and the paddle boat service.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Masum, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer S.M. Shahjahan Siraj, Agriculture Officer Dolon Chandra Roy, Officer-in-Charge of Kotalipara Police Station Khandaker Hafizur Rahman, and Rural Development Officer Abu Taher Helal, among others from the upazila administration, were present.
Following the inauguration, people of all ages thronged the lake to enjoy the newly built attraction, which is now becoming a popular recreation spot in the area.
During a visit to the lakeside on Sunday evening, crowds of people from various walks of life were seen eagerly waiting to ride the paddle boats.
Sohel Sheikh, President, Kotalipara Kalyan Sangha, said, the initiative taken by the upazila administration has completely changed the look of the lake. Earlier, due to poor maintenance and clogged drains, the mosquito problem here was severe.
UNO Sagufata Haque said, the lake has been redesigned and beautified, and I hope it will soon become a well-known recreational spot for the people of Kotalipara. CCTV cameras will be installed around the lake for public safety. Measures will be taken to ensure that waste materials like bottles and paper packets from mobile food stalls do not pollute the water. The area will remain under constant monitoring to prevent any disorder.
