Under-construction Bangladesh Frontier Technology to remain in Shibchar

Madaripur Correspondent

The under-construction Bangladesh Frontier Technology and Hi-Tech Park in Shibchar is not being shifted to Madaripur and the park will be located in Shibchar.

On Monday morning, Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Department, Shish Haider Chowdhury, said these while visiting the Hi-Tech Park under construction in Kutubpur of the upazila.

For some time now, people from all walks of life in Shibchar have been holding human chains and protest marches in protest of the news that the "Bangladesh Frontier Technology and Hi-Tech Park" under construction in Kutubpur of Shibchar is being shifted.

As a result, the Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department and senior officials of the concerned department visited the under-construction Bangladesh Frontier Technology and Hi-Tech Park area in Kutubpur of Shibchar of the district on Monday morning.

At that time, the secretary also said, after the interim government came to power, the ICT Division was instructed to save the construction cost of 21 projects including this project by keeping the basic infrastructure in order. Accordingly, the committee was formed.

The committee talked about saving money in the report. But we want to inspect the projects on the ground again and today, when I came to inspect the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park under construction in Qutubpur, I saw that there is no public university in this area, it is an area very close to Dhaka. I think it is important to have such an institution in this area.'

Project Director (Additional Responsibilities) Syed Irtiza Ahsan said, a total cost of 1534 crore taka has been estimated for the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park project, of which 930 crore taka has been invited so far. The remaining 6 billion taka has not been invited for tenders yet. Out of the amount invited, 243 crore taka has been paid for the work done. However, there is no possibility of increasing the cost of this project so far. The work will be completed within the stipulated time.

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director NDC, A.K.M. Amirul Islam, Deputy Secretary (Administration Branch) of the Information and Communication Technology Department, Mohammad Saiful Hasan, Executive Engineer, Firoz Ahmed, Project Engineer, Bashir Ahmed Majumdar and other officials were present.
