National Social Service Day celebrated in Barishal

The National Social Service Day programmes were inaugurated at Bells Park in the city at 10 am on Thursday.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Barishal Range DIG Manjur Morshed Alam, Additional Divisional Commissioner Md. Sohrab Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Md. Delwar Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Maria Hasan, Barisal Divisional Director of Social Services Shah Md. Rafiqul Islam and Deputy Director of District Social Services AKM Akhtaruzzaman.
Also present were Barishal Divisional Deputy Director of Social Services Al-Mamun Talukder, Assistant Director of District Social Services Md. Sajjad Parvez and Barishal Metropolitan Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Shahidul Islam Shahed and Spokesperson Israt Jahan Maya.
The walkathon organized by the officials of the Barisal District Administration and Department of Social Services, Voluntary Social Welfare Organization, started from T Bells Park and ended at the Rupatli District Social Welfare Complex.
During this walkathon, officials of the Barisal District Administration and Department of Social Services, development workers of the Voluntary Social Welfare Organization, leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement, and students from various educational institutions participated.
Later, the guests gave speeches at an open discussion, prize distribution and cultural program on the occasion of the National Social Service Day organized at the District Social Welfare Complex premises.
