Two women drown in Kapasia

Two women have drowned in a river in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. The deceased have been identified as Lipi Akhter (40) and Bilkis Begum (25).
The incident took place at 11:00 am on Sunday in Banar River of Ghagtia Union in Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur district.
Kapasia Police Station OC Mohammad Abdur Rob told Khabar Sangya that the bodies of the two have been recovered. Lipi Akhter (40), Dina Akhter and Ajnatanama and two others were swept away in the river while trying to wash away stolen water from agricultural land. Locals rescued the three and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared Lipi Akhter (40) dead. The other two are undergoing treatment. In the incident, the Gazipur Fire Service diving team and locals rescued another person named Bilkis after trying to rescue the missing woman in the river for five hours.
Mahfuzur Rahman, In-chsrge of Kapasia Fire Service, said, "We went to the spot after hearing the news of drowning. A diving team from Tongi Fire Service rescued a person named Bilkis. Earlier, Lipi Akhter was rescued by locals. Two people have been rescued so far."
