Two killed in truck-pickup collision in Tangail

Two construction workers were killed and 10 others injured in a collision between a truck and a pickup van in Kalihati, Tangail.
The accident occurred in the Bangra area of the Tangail-Mymensingh road on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Zaher Ali of Konabari area of Kalihati and Muktar Ali of Baniafoir area.
Eyewitnesses said that the construction workers were heading towards Elenga in a pickup truck after completing welding work in the Ghuni Salenga area.
At that time, a truck from the other side arrived at the scene and collided head-on. As a result, the workers in the pickup truck fell on the road. Later, locals rescued 12 injured workers and took them to Tangail General Hospital and Tangail Medical College Hospital, where the doctors on duty declared 2 of them dead. In addition, when the condition of 2 of them deteriorated, they were sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
Alamgir Hossain, in-charge of the Tangail General Hospital police box, said the bodies of the deceased are at the Tangail General Hospital morgue. The bodies will be handed over to the families after the legal process is completed.
