Two killed in Dinajpur truck collision

The deceased were identified as Golam Rabbani, 45, son of Momtaj Ali, and Mohammad Rezwan, 34, son of late Kamal Uddin, both hailed from Mirgram-Choumuhoni village under Joypurhat Sadar upazila.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred when a Gobindganj-bound corn-laden truck from Dinajpur collided head-on with a fertiliser-laden truck heading to Dinajpur from Bogura, leaving the driver and helper of the corn-laden truck dead on the spot.
Ghoraghat Police Station officer-in-charge Asaduzzaman Asad said being informed, police recovered the bodies from the spot and kept at the upazila health complex, adding that they families of the deceased have been informed.
Two trucks and goods involved in the accident were seized from the spot and a case was filed in this regard, however, the driver and helper of the other truck managed to escape from the scene, added the OC.
A truck driver and his helper were killed as two trucks collided head-on at the Dinajpur-Gobindganj regional highway at Ghoraghat upazila in Dinajpur district on Friday morning.
The accident took place around 7.30am at Osmanpur Tinmatha intersection in the upazila.
