
Two arrested for illegal sand mining in Srimangal

Police have arrested two people for illegally extracting sand in Srimangal, Moulvibazar. Two trucks carrying sand were seized along with the sand on Thursday.
A police team led by ASI Md. Abu Taleb of Sreemangal Police Station conducted a drive and seized two trucks with illegally extracted sand from the Dakshin Baraura area of Sadar Union of the upazila and arrested two people.
In this incident, Kashim Miah, son of Monowar Miah of Lamua village, and Md. Jamshed Miah, son of Nails Miah of Maijdihi village, were arrested and sent to jail by the Moulvibazar District Magistrate's Court.
Sreemangal Police Station OC Md. Aminul Islam said that the top layer of sand and soil of cultivable land is being illegally cut from various government plots, lands and Hail Haors of Sreemangal Upazila without government permission, destroying the natural environment. The arrested accused have been sent to jail through the Moulvibazar District Magistrate's Court.
