
Two -month jail for digging ponds in Baraigram

A person named Khairul Islam was fined five lakh taka and sentenced to two months imprisonment for non-payment of the fine in Baraigram upazila of Natore for illegally digging ponds on three seasons crop lands. Last Monday, the Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of the Mobile Court, Md. Ashraful Islam gave the sentence.The convicted Khairul Islam is the son of Amjad Hossain of Chamta Diyarpara village in Jonail union of the upazila. He was digging ponds on agricultural land in Chamta area without permission. He has been sent to jail for not paying the fine.
Owners of 3 bakeries fined :
The owners of 3 bakeries factory in Baraigram upazila of Natore have been fined 30 thousand taka. With the help of BSTI Rajshahi divisional office, mobile courts fined Zahurur Islam, owner of Bhai Bhai Bread, Biscuit Factory, Kamal Hossain,
owner of New Comilla Bakery and Abul Kalam Azad, owner of Rabeya Bakery 10 thousand taka each a total of Tk 30 thousand in Laxmikol area of the upazila.
Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the mobile court Laila Jannatul Ferdous imposed these fined on Monday on charges of not having a CM license and producing food in a dirty environment.
Delwar Hossain, field worker of BSTI;s Rajshahi divisional office, was present at the time.
