Tributes paid at Martyrs' Memorial on July Martyrs' Day in Faridpur

July Martyrs' Day 2026 was observed across Faridpur with due solemnity on Thursday.
To mark the day, the Faridpur district administration organized a wreath-laying ceremony and a commemorative discussion meeting in the morning to pay deep tribute to the martyrs of the July mass uprising.
The day's programs commenced at 9:30 AM with the laying of wreaths at the July Martyrs' Memorial located on Hasibul Hasan Lablu Road in the town. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Mazharul Islam first paid his respects by placing a floral wreath at the monument.
He was followed by Superintendent of Police Shahriar Mohammad Miyaji, Zila Parishad Administrator Afzal Hossain Khan Palash, and representatives from Government Rajendra College, LGED , Department of Narcotics Control, PWD , Regional Passport Office, BRTA, Forest Department, Fire Service and Civil Defense, DPHE , West Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDCL), and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). Various other government and non-government institutions, alongside socio-cultural organizations, also laid wreaths to honor the martyrs.
Later, a memorial discussion was hosted at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, presided over by DC Mazharul Islam.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Shahriar Mohammad Miyaji, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Sohrab Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Fatema Islam, UNO Meshkatul Jannat Rabeya, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Shura Member Prof Abdut Tawab. Valiant freedom fighters, July uprising warriors, family members of the July martyrs, and officials from various public and private departments were also present at the discussion.
