A training workshop was organized in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi with the aim of effectively implementing the "Tobacco Control Act 2005 (Amended 2013)" to protect public health from the harmful effects of tobacco products in the upazila meeting room at 10 .am on Wednesday. 

 Bagha Upazila Administration organised this programme in collaboration with the National Tobacco Control Cell, Health Services Division, and the Ministry of Health and Family Planning.

 According to the training program, after registration and introduction in the first phase, UNO Shammi Akhter inaugurated the training. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sabiha Sultana Dolly discussed in detail the Tobacco Control Act.

In the second phase, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Md. Asaduzzaman Asad, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Shafiullah Sultan, Bagha Thana OC Asaduzzaman Asad, Mir Md. Mamunur Rahman, Upazila Primary Education Officer, among others, discussed the implementation of the Tobacco Control Act.

The main topics of discussion included operating mobile courts to control tobacco, strategies for creating smoke-free areas, banning tobacco advertising, and eliminating the influence of tobacco companies. Several important issues were discussed.

Task force committee members, authorized officers, officials from various departments, journalists, and relevant representatives participated in this day-long training organized by the upazila administration.

At the end of the training, the Upazila Executive Officer said, "This training will increase the capacity of those concerned in implementing the law at the field level. The administration is committed to declaring Bagha Upazila smoking and tobacco-free to protect public health."
