Today is the first Juma of the month of Rajab : The importance and significance of Juma, a virtuous day

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

Today is PBA Jumaba 19 January 2024 according to 06 Rajab 1445 Hijri month first Juma today. From last (14 January 2024) Rajab month 1445 Hijri month has startedThe holy Shabbat Meraj will be celebrated with due dignity on the night of the 26th day of Rajab on Thursday, February 08 of the next month.

Rajab is a special and glorious month among the Hijri months. This month comes with the arrival message of Ramadan. The word 'Rajab' means honorable. So the month of Rajab is very honorable and virtuous. During the period of ignorance, the Arabs respected this month more than any other month. That's why they named this month as 'Rajab'.

After the arrival of Islam, 4 months including Rajab out of 12 months of the year were declared as 'Ashhur Hurum' honored month. It is stated in Al-Qur'an, "Surely, from the day the heavens and the earth were created, there are 12 months in the reckoning of Allah, of which 4 are forbidden months (due to respect), this is a well-established ruling. (Surah Tawba: verse 36).

A believer has certain seasons of worship. Seasons in which a believer can be entitled to more rewards even in a short period of time. One of those months is the month of Rajab Friday is the best day of the week.

There is a Surah in the Holy Quran called Juma. And in the eyes of Islam, the day of Friday is very blessed and significantAlmighty God Almighty has given this day superiority over other days. Many virtues of Friday have been described in the Holy Qur'an and Hadith. Allah Ta'ala has given importance to this day and said in the Holy Qur'an, "O believers! When the call to prayer is given on the day of Jumu'ah, hurry to worship Allah and stop trading. That is better for you, if you understand.' (Surah Jumu'ah: 09)

It is said in the hadith, Abdullah Ibn Yusuf (RA) and Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)It is said that whoever performs ablution on Jumu'ah as an obligatory ablution before coming to prayer, it is as if he had sacrificed a camel.

A person who reaches the second stage is as if he sacrificed a cow. A person who attains the third stage is as if he sacrificed a horned bull. One who reaches the fourth stage is as if he sacrificed a chicken.

It is as if one who has reached the fifth stage has sacrificed an egg. Later, when the imam goes out to deliver the sermon, the angels appear to listen to the zikr.

The importance of Friday in Islamic law is limitless. On this day, the first father of the human race - Hazrat Adam (A.S.)The day is named Juma because the various parts of its body were joined or deposited.

Allah Ta'ala has enriched the day of Jumu'ah with unlimited blessings. It's the best day of the week. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, the best and most blessed day is Friday. On this holy day, Hazrat Adam (a.s.)Who was created and was admitted to Paradise on this day. (Muslim Sharif)

Also, in Hadith Sharif, Friday has been declared as the weekly Eid day. It has been said that Friday is the day of your mutual meeting and weekly Eid.

The night before Friday is also very important. It is said in the Hadith Sharif that all the deeds of Bani Adam are presented to the court of Allah Almighty on the night before Friday. (Bukhari, Ahmad)

One of the reasons why the day of Jummah is special and significant is that there is a special blessed time on this day, Allah Ta'ala accepts whatever the servant prays for good.

The Prophet asked: What is there for us on Friday? Hazrat Jibraeel Amin said, "There is a time in this, when someone prays for the fulfillment of a noble purpose, it is undoubtedly accepted." (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba, Vol. IV, Page No. 155) Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira RA: He said, Rasulullah SAW said, 'Indeed there is a time on Friday when a Muslim servant wishes for something good from Allah, surely he will be granted it. given' (Bukhari, Muslim).

> Etiquette of Holy Friday

* Weekly Eid day

Friday is the Muslim weekly Eid day. Many virtues and importance of this day have been mentioned in the hadith. The Prophet (PBUH) said, 'It is Friday, the day through which Allah has separated us from the previous nations. The special day of worship for Jews was Saturday, for Christians it was Sunday. When Allah Ta'ala sent us, He ordered Friday to be observed as Juma' (Muslim, Hadith: 1797).

* Juma is obligatory instead of Zohar

Two rakat prayers on Friday are obligatory instead of Zohar on Friday. It has been replaced by the four rakat obligatory prayers of Zohar. Tariq Ibn Shihab (RA)In a hadith narrated from Rasulullah (SAW) said, "It is obligatory for all Muslims to offer Friday prayer in congregation except for slaves, women, minor children and sick people" (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 1067; Mustadrike Hakim, Hadith: 1062; As Sunanul Kabir). , Hadith: 5587)

* Friday preparation

Salman (RA) In the hadith narrated from the Prophet (PBUH)Said, 'Whoever performs a good ablution on Jumu'ah, then uses oil and perfumes, then goes to the mosque, does not forcefully occupy a place between two worshippers, prays with the imam, and listens silently and attentively when the imam delivers the sermon, All his sins between the two Fridays will be forgiven(Abu Dawud, Hadith: 479)

* Recitation of Surah Kahf

Rasulullah (SAW) said, 'Whoever recites Surah Kahf on Friday, a light will extend from his feet to the sky. This light will be a light for him on the Day of Judgment. His sins will be forgiven from one Friday to the next.' (Mustadrike Hakim, Hadith: 2125)

* Abandoning activities only when Azan is called

Allah says in the Holy Qur'an, "O believers! On the day of Friday when the call to the (Friday) prayer is called, run to the remembrance of Allah and stop trading. It is better for you, if you understand.' (Surah Juma, verse 9)

* Going to the mosque first

Rasul (pbuh)Said, 'Whoever takes a bath and goes to the Friday prayer on Friday and prays as much as he can, then remains silent until the Imam finishes the sermon, then prays with the Imam, his sins are forgiven from this Friday to the next Friday and three additional days. (Muslim, Hadith: 2024)

* The rewards of nafal fasting and prayers at every step

Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said, "Whoever takes a bath early in the morning on Friday, then sits near the imam and listens to the sermon with attention, for every step he takes, he will be rewarded with one year of Nafal fasting and prayer." (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 498)

* Paying attention to the sermon

Whoever remains inattentive during the Jumu'ah sermon or engages himself in other activities, must have committed an evil deed. The Prophet (PBUH) said, "He will not get any reward for Friday." (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 719)

* It is also permissible to forbid during the sermon

Rasul (pbuh)Said, "Whoever tells others not to speak or to remain silent during the sermon, he will not get any reward on Friday." (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 2033)

* Speaking during the sermon

It is obligatory to listen to the sermon. The Prophet (PBUH) forbade talking during the sermon. In the hadith narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RA), the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)Said, 'When you tell the worshiper next to you to be quiet on Friday, while the imam is delivering the sermon, then you have said a useless thing. (Bukhari, Hadith: 934, Muslim, Hadith: 851)

Although it is very important and blessed, many people neglect the Friday prayer. It is not right to never perform Friday prayers unnecessarily and without any reason. There is a strict warning in Sharia in this regard. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever intentionally misses three consecutive Fridays, Allah will seal his heart.” (Bukhari, Hadith: 1052; Tirmidhi, Hadith: 502; Muslim, Hadith: 1999)

* Importance of Sunnah after Fard

Many people leave the Sunnah after Jumu'ah Fard. But in the hadith narrated by Abdullah Ibn Umar (ra), the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever joins the Friday prayer, let him perform four rak'ahs of the Sunnah prayer at the end of the Friday prayer (two rak'ahs)." (Muslim, Hadith: 2033)

* Prayers are accepted on Friday

Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.ASaid, "There is a time on the day of Jumu'ah, when a believer asks Allah for something good, Allah will certainly grant it to him." (Muslim, Hadith: 852; Musnad Ahmad, Hadith: 7151; As Sunanul Kubra, Hadith: 10234)

* When the prayer is accepted

There are 45 opinions about the time of acceptance of prayers on Friday. However, the most popular opinion is that after Asr prayer until Maghrib, the time of prayer is accepted. In the hadith narrated by Anas (RA), the Prophet (PBUH) said, "The desired time of Friday is from Asr to before sunset." (Musnad Ibn Abi Shayba, Hadith: 5460; Tirmidhi, Hadith: 489)

* It is not desirable not to read Juma

Even though it is very important and blessed, many people neglect the Friday prayer. It is not right to never perform Friday prayers unnecessarily and without any reason. There is a strict warning in Sharia in this regard. Rasool (PBUH) said, "Whoever intentionally misses three consecutive Fridays, Allah will seal his heart.(Bukhari, Hadith: 1052; Tirmidhi, Hadith: 502; Muslim, Hadith: 1999)

Finally, I would like to say that although it is important to perform Friday prayers, we are indifferent and careless about the special time when prayers are accepted on Friday. However, every Muslim always wishes to have their prayers accepted. Every believing Muslim wants all his wishes to be fulfilled from Almighty Allah.

Even if there is disagreement about the special time of accepting prayers on Jumma, there is no disagreement about the acceptance of prayers. There are several sayings about what is the special time when prayers are accepted. Narrated in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari RA - From the time the Imam comes to the pulpit for the sermon until the end of the prayer, whatever good the servant desires from Allah, Allah Ta'ala grants it. May Allah Ta'ala grant us tawfiq to act (Ameen).
