
Two committees of JUC formed in Cox’s Bazar within a day

Two separate committees of the Journalists’ Union Cox’s Bazar (JUC) (Reg. Chattogram 2575) were announced in Cox’s Bazar within the span of a day.
According to press releases, the committees were formed through elections conducted by two different election commissions.
Among them, on Sunday afternoon, an election conducted by Election Commission Chairman S.M. Aminul Haque Chowdhury announced a committee with Nurul Islam Helali, Staff Reporter of the Daily Dinkal, as President; M.R. Mahbub, District Correspondent of the Daily Kalbela, as Vice-President; S.M. Zafar, News Editor of the local Daily Rupali Soikat, as General Secretary; Saeed Alam, District Correspondent of the Daily Bonik Barta, as Joint Secretary; Ikram Chowdhury Tipu, District Correspondent of NTV, as Treasurer; Shahed Mizan, District Correspondent of the Daily Azadi, as Organizing Secretary; Bedarul Alam, Staff Reporter of the Daily Cox’s Bazar, as Publicity and Publication Secretary; and Shamsul Haque Sharek, Cox’s Bazar Bureau Chief of the Daily Inqilab, and M. Jasim Uddin Siddiqui, Staff Reporter of the Daily Sangbad, as members.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night, another committee was announced by Election Commission Chairman Muhammad Nurul Islam. In that committee, Mohammad Hasim, District Correspondent of the Daily Bhorer Dak, was made President; Humayun Sikder, Staff Reporter of the Daily Himchhari, as Vice-President; Ansar Hossain, Representative of the Daily Amar Desh, as General Secretary; Abdur Rahman, Representative of Desh TV, as Joint Secretary; Nurul Haque Chakori, of the Daily Morning Observer, as Treasurer; Mohammadur Rahman Masud, Representative of the Daily Nirapekkho, as Organizing Secretary; Azad Monsur, Representative of Bangladesh Betar, as Publicity and Publication Secretary; and Hasanur Rashid, Representative of Bangladesh Pratidin, and Mahiuddin Mahi, Head of CB24 TV, as members.
According to the press release sent on behalf of S.M. Aminul Haque Chowdhury, he was made chief of a three-member election commission alongside Mahbubur Rahman and A.H. Selim Ullah. The bi-annual election of the Journalists’ Union Cox’s Bazar (JUC) was held in a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere on Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in a continuous voting process at the Cox’s Bazar Press Club Hall Room. Out of 53 voters, 29 cast their votes. Based on the results, the names of the winners were announced.
On the other hand, as per the press release sent on behalf of Muhammad Nurul Islam, since there were no opposing candidates for any post in the scheduled election on Saturday, nine candidates were declared elected unopposed. At that time, members of the election commission, Ruhul Kader Babul and Islam Mahmud, were present.
