The Aviation Security (AVSEC) Department, formed with the combined efforts of the Civil Aviation Authority’s own security personnel, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police, and Ansar members, has been providing uninterrupted service in ensuring overall security and passenger service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Upholding a zero-tolerance policy against all kinds of unethical activities, including maintaining internal security of the airport, today, on Sunday at 020 hours, an on-duty AVSEC member detected 93,090 Euros hidden inside the luggage of an outbound passenger of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG-355), a Rome-bound flight, during a security check at Checking Row-D.
Later, when the airport customs was informed, the concerned authorities quickly arrived at the spot and took legal action.
According to the CAAB authorities, due to the awareness, responsibility and accurate screening by the screener, this smuggling attempt was foiled. This success has further strengthened the overall security system of the airport.
