MP's son, Jubo Dal leader Sajeeb detained on multiple charges including extortion

Khairul Islam Sajeeb, son of Narayanganj-3 MP Azharul Islam Mannan and senior joint convener of the District Jubo Dal, has been taken to the Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for questioning.
The matter was confirmed by the DMP's media wing on Sunday.
Earlier this afternoon, Narayanganj District Police, with the assistance of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch, took him into custody from the capital. In the afternoon, he was taken to the office of the Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police.
Narayanganj Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tarek Al Mehdi said that several allegations of extortion have been received against Jubo Dal leader Khairul Islam Sajeeb. He has been taken into police custody for further questioning regarding these allegations. He was taken to the Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police office around 5 pm, and later from there he was taken to the DB office for questioning.
Khairul Islam Sajeeb is the eldest son of MP Azharul Islam Mannan and currently holds an important position in the district youth party. The police said that the allegations against him are being investigated.
