Fugitive rape suspect arrested in Sylhet by RAB-9

Habib Miah, a fugitive suspect accused in a housewife rape case in Sunamganj, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
RAB-9 Media Officer Additional Superintendent of Police KM Shahidul Islam Sohag confirmed that a joint team of the CPSC Sylhet and CPC-3 Sunamganj units conducted a drive in Sylhet city on Wednesday night, successfully apprehending the suspect.
He was subsequently handed over to the Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station for further legal proceedings. The arrestee has been identified as Habib, son of Koram Ali, a resident of Shekhergaon village under Sunamganj Sadar upazila.
According to Ratan Sheikh, the OC of Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station, the incident occurred on the night of June 18 this year in Shekhergaon village. Taking advantage of the absence of the victim's husband and father-in-law, who were working outside the district as day laborers, Habib allegedly violated the housewife inside her home and fled the area.
Following the assault, the victim's family filed a formal case against Habib at the Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station on June 21, prompting law enforcement to initiate manhunts that eventually led to his capture in the neighboring city.
