Students in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, staged a protest demanding justice for the murder of four-year-old Sadab Hossain. They blocked train services by taking up positions on the railway tracks from 12 noon to 4 pm on Thursday. This halted train services on various routes including Dhaka-Mymensingh, causing extreme suffering to thousands of passengers.

According to local sources, the aggrieved students blocked trains and staged a protest demanding a speedy trial for Sadab's murder and the arrest of the accused. Upon receiving the news, Gafargaon UNO  N. M. Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Gafargaon Circle) Monotosh Biswas, Gafargaon Police Station OC Bachchu Mia and Pagla Police Station OC Ferdous Alam along with members of the administration and law enforcement agencies reached the spot. Later, after the students assured the arrest of the accused within 24 hours, the students lifted the blockade and train services returned to normal.

Incidentally, on July 11, child Sadab Hossain (4) went missing from Dighirpar village in Pachbagh union of Gafargaon. Within a few hours, his family received a ransom demand from an unknown number. First, 20,000 taka was demanded, then 1 lakh taka. Four days after the disappearance, on the afternoon of July 15, the child's body was recovered in three pieces in a nearby forest.

Locals said that there is extreme anger in the area over the murder. The child's family members are still unable to believe that a four-year-old child could be killed in such a brutal manner.

Gafargaon Railway Station Assistant Master Mustafa Kamal said that after the blockade was lifted with the intervention of the administration, the Jamalpur Express left Gafargaon station at 3:05 pm.
