Stolen laptop recovered in Morelganj

Police in Morelganj, Bagerhat recovered a stolen laptop that was taken during a burglary at a government educational institution. The successfully retrieved educational materials have been handed over to the concerned authorities, bringing relief to the community and earning praise for the police’s swift and efficient action.
According to the local police station, the burglary took place on the night of April 13 at Baroikhali Government Primary School, located in Ward No. 1 of Morelganj Municipality. The perpetrators broke into the school’s office and stole a ‘Lenovo’ laptop, a ‘Hitachi’ video projector, and a bell. The school authorities filed a written complaint at the Morelganj Police Station the following day, prompting an investigation and subsequent operations.As part of the ongoing operation, a police team conducted raids in various locations across the upazila on Thursday morning and arrested a man known as "Chora Sohel." Based on his information, police recovered a laptop belonging to Tathya Apa Sarmin Akhter from the Women’s Affairs Department building in Morelganj. The laptop was immediately returned to her.
Later, at 8 PM on April 21, the stolen Lenovo laptop from Baroikhali Government Primary School was officially handed over to the school’s head teacher, Md. Harun-or-Rashid.
As part of their continuous operation, police arrested another thief named Md. Jubayer later that same night.
Sheikh Rajib Al Rasid, OC (Investigation) of Morelganj Police Station, said, we believe this incident is the work of an organized theft ring. Several individuals have already been arrested, and we are working to bring the remaining members to justice swiftly.
It is noteworthy that several thefts have occurred in Morelganj Upazila during March and April, targeting government offices such as the Tathya Apa Center, Upazila Agriculture Office, and local grocery stores. These incidents have raised concerns among residents and sparked demands for increased administrative vigilance.
The police’s successful operation has brought a sense of relief to the area. Local residents have expressed their gratitude and satisfaction, urging the police to continue such efforts to root out the organized crime networks.
