Scholarships awarded to 406 students in second year at Cumilla University

For the second time in Cumilla University, Vice Chancellor Scholarship-2023 has been awarded to meritorious, disadvantaged and athletic students from the university's own fund. Monday at 11.00 a.m. the scholarship check was handed over through a ceremony at the open stage of the university. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AFM Abdul Moin.
UGC member Professor Dr. was present as an honored guest. Md. Abu Taher. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. was present as a special guest. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Honorable Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman, BNCC Regiment Commander Lt. Col. Md. Kamrul Islam, Deputy Director of Cumilla Local Government Md. Mizanur Rahman and Dean of Kubi Social Science Faculty N. M. Rabiul Awal Chowdhury. The program was presided over by Professor Dr., Head of Department of Economics. Muh. Aminul Islam Akand.
In the speech of the chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AFM Abdul Moin said, today's day has been made special for all of us by the scholarship holders. We are probably the first public university in Bangladesh to fund the entrance exam revenue and launch this scholarship to promote recognition and inclusion of merit.
For the second time we are happy to award scholarships to Cumilla University students. This scholarship is given to the students in recognition of their success, passion and perseverance in their academic life. Last year I promised to give a bigger scholarship in the new year, I kept that promise. We are delighted to introduce sports scholarships this year with an increase in the number of scholarships by almost 40%. Because we believe in holistic education which will contribute to increasing academic standards as well as increasing physical fitness. The scholarship program started last year and it does not end here. It is hoped that this program will continue to recognize academic merit.
The Vice-Chancellor further said that a university should play a role in leading innovation, empowering society, advancing development, human welfare, enriching communities and creating a sustainable planet. He said education should be constructive, meaningful, participatory and lifelong. He further said, We support the development of Deep Learning, Authentic Learning, Experiential Learning and Critical Thinking. We are working to instill a passion for lifelong learning beyond textbooks and classrooms. We believe that through this our students will adapt to the world and contribute as essential resources for national and global development by establishing themselves in leadership positions.
He also said that Cumilla University has made significant progress in various indicators in the last two years. As a result of this, Cumilla University has topped the list of students' preference in the cluster system for the academic year 2022-23. A university without students is not effective, so the Vice-Chancellor called upon all students to contribute to the development of the country and society through the practice of talent, patriotism, and ethics of the students.
