Rape allegations against Jubo League leader in Tongibari

A housewife in Tongibari, Munshiganj has alleged that a Jubo League leader raped her on Saturday.
The housewife's husband, Sumon Akand, said, they are from in Gaibandha district. He brought his wife with him to work as a laborer in this upazila during the potato season. He and his wife are living in a rented house in Sujon Molla's house in Baligaon village of the upazila. On Friday afternoon, local Shamsul Molla's son Md. Babu Molla found his wife alone at home and forcibly raped her.
Later, he gave his wife 100 taka and said that he would give her whatever money she needed. He would not tell anyone. Locals said, Babu Molla has been absconding since the incident came to light. Babu Molla's father, Shamsul Molla, is trying to remove the rape victim from the area by threatening her. Although the accused rapist Babu Molla was contacted on the phone, he denied the allegations against him and said, "Lies are being spread against me. Some people are spreading such false information to defame me."
Baligaon UP member Kamal Khan said, "I have heard about the matter. I went to the victim's house to verify the truth but he could not be found. However, when I spoke to the accused Babu Molla on the mobile phone, he denied the rape but admitted that he had gone to the woman's house and said that I had given the poor woman 100 taka."
Tongibari Police Station SI Md. Osman said, "I went to the scene after receiving the news of the incident. The investigation into the matter is ongoing."
