Rangpur Region Highway Police Superintendent Mohammad Tariqul Islam in a press briefing at the Rangpur Region Highway Police Office on Wednesday said that providing safe, secure and orderly highways are their big challenge.

He sought the full cooperation of journalists for this. In the press briefing, Mohammad Tariqul Islam said that if the police have made mistakes in the past, the main challenge of the highway police will be to secure the highways and restore order by correcting those past mistakes and upholding human rights. We need awareness in the case of dangerous vehicles on the highway. However, motorcycles are on the list of dangerous vehicles.

There are more under-age motorcyclists among these motorcyclists. Our boys are dying in most of the accidents in the country. When Eid, Puja and other festivals are celebrated, the rate of these accidents increases as well as the death rate. It is possible to reduce the accident rate through awareness. But it is not possible for the police alone. For this, the cooperation of the people is needed.

He said, “The highway police have a lot of bad reputation. However, efforts are being made to reduce the bad reputation of the highway police and improve on the negative aspects to secure the highway and restore order. I want to move forward with the dream of a changed time. If there is evidence that the highway police have committed any crime on the highway, we will definitely take action against those responsible.”

He also sought the cooperation of journalists to correct all the mistakes of the past and move on the right tract.
