Members of Balagram Union Parishad and residents of Balagram Union Parishad held a human chain and protest rally demanding punishment of BNP leaders in protest against the attack on the panel chairman and members for not distributing VGF rice in Jaldhaka of Nilphamari.
A rally was held led by panel chairman Kahinur Begum at Jaldhaka Bazar Zero Point Junction on Wednesday afternoon.
Vice Chairman Rebecca Sultana, Mahmuda Begum, UP members Moshfekur Rahman Fiku, Tarek Rahman, Abdur Rashid Hilu, Shyamal Chandra and Moslem Uddin were present at this time.
Earlier, a a human chain was formed around the city's main thoroughfare. At that time, the speakers said, the party led by Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Ferozul Haque Sebu Chowdhury, Tatidal leader Fazlul Haque Faju and Upazila Joint Convener Muhith of Swachhasebak Dal came to Balagram Union Parishad on Tuesday afternoon and demanded 500 cards of VGF rice for Eid.
When the panel chairman refused to give it, they launched an unexpected attack. The speakers demanded that the attackers be brought under the law and punished.
