Elderly woman arrested for attempting to rape 7-year-old child in Bamna

Bamna Police arrested an elderly man named Md. Sobahan, aged 17, on charges of attempting to rape a 7-year-old child in Bamna Upazila of Barguna.
The incident took place on Monday at around 2 pm in Paschim Bolaibunia village of the upazila. On Sunday night, the victim's father filed a case of attempted rape against the elderly man Sobahan (70).
OC of Bamna Police Station Md. Harun Or Rashid Hawlader confirmed the case and the arrest of the accused to journalists.
The family's relatives said that an attempt was made to rape the child in a forest near the house on Sunday afternoon. According to family and local sources, the child was playing in the yard of the house at noon. At that time, the accused neighbor, grandfather Sobahan, called him to the forest.
At that time, he touched the child's sensitive area and she screamed. Later, leaving the child behind, she ran away. On Sunday evening, the day of the incident, the child's family members brought her to the Bamna Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
The doctors there said that no spot was found around the child's genitals. However, we cannot say whether there is any wound inside. Therefore, the child was referred to Barguna General Hospital for advanced examination. Meanwhile, on Sunday night, the child's father filed a case with the Bamna Police Station accusing the old man of attempted rape.
OC of Bamna Police Station Md. Harun Or Rashid Howlader said, we went to the hospital after hearing about the incident. After filing a case with the police station, the accused was arrested.
