Despite the dilapidated  condition of the approximately 2-kilometer stretch of the Katakhali road—from the Lawyer's Cemetery in Munshiganj town—no one seems to be paying attention. Most parts of the road are filled with potholes and large craters. Even a little rain causes these holes to fill with water. Small and large accidents occur almost daily, causing immense suffering for pedestrians, commuters, and transport drivers alike.

Several years ago, the Munshiganj Municipality repaired the road, but since then, especially in Ward No. 6, no significant maintenance has been carried out. Local residents have expressed frustration and are strongly demanding durable and urgent repairs.

This road is a vital link to the town center, used daily by thousands of people and vehicles from the southern areas. Commuters use it to travel to the court, general hospital, markets, schools, and colleges. The sick, the elderly, and children are all dissatisfied with the condition of this road.

A visit to the area revealed the heartbreaking condition of the road from the Lawyer's Cemetery to Chhoto Katakhali. Expressing his frustration, pedestrian Alam said, "My home is in the Kawar area. I have to use this road every day. It’s in such poor condition that even auto-rickshaws hesitate to travel through it."

School and college students, who endure great hardship using this road, voiced strong dissatisfaction. They said, "Even though this road is so close to the municipality office, its condition has been miserable for a long time. The municipal authorities are turning a blind eye." They demanded that repair work begin immediately.

When asked about the condition of the road, Munshiganj Municipality’s Executive Engineer, Md. Ali, said that a project has been initiated for the road’s temporary repair. Around 1.5 kilometers of the road—from the Forest Department to Katakhali—will be repaired very soon.
