Job seekers and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have surrounded the UNO office in Bagatipara, Natore, alleging irregularities in the appointment of data collectors and supervisors for the Family Card Census-2026. During this, there have been allegations of kicking the door of the UNO's room and insulting journalists. The incident took place at the Bagatipara Upazila Parishad on Wednesday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said that around 12 noon, a procession led by former convenor of the Upazila Chhatra Dal, Sohel Rana, took out from the Malanchi Railgate area of the upazila. The procession went to the Upazila Parishad and took up position in front of the UNO office on the second floor. There, the protesters started chanting various slogans, alleging irregularities in the recruitment. At one stage, when the situation became heated, some protesters kicked the door of the UNO room, eyewitnesses said. The protesters alleged,

People associated with the Awami League have been given the opportunity to recruit family card information collectors and supervisors. Despite having the qualifications, many job seekers, including Chhatra Dal leaders and activists, have been excluded. They also allege that some have been hired in exchange for money without even taking the exam.
Meanwhile, there have been allegations of journalists being assaulted while covering the protests. Tariqul Hasan, the Natore correspondent of Star News Television, said he was threatened and pushed while covering the protests live. He alleged that local representatives of other media outlets present there were also assaulted.

However, former convenor of the Upazila Chhatra Dal, Sohel Rana, denied these allegations. He said that many candidates did not get the opportunity to be appointed despite giving good exams. Information about irregularities was found after investigating the matter. He appointed Awami League supporters to make the BNP government controversial. As a result, anger arose among the job seekers and locals. Due to this, they jointly protested demanding the cancellation of the appointment. However, there was no incident of attack or insulting journalists.
Bagatipara UNO Debashish Basak said that after the publication of the recruitment results, some people were aggrieved and complained about irregularities. The complaints will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.

Regarding the allegations of attack on the UNO room and insulting journalists, he said, "I have been inside the office since morning. I do not know what happened outside. Necessary legal action will be taken after learning about the matter."
