In solidarity with the ongoing movement of the students of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) and their one-point demand, the general students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) organized a protest rally at 10-:30 pm on Tuesday
The students marched through various roads on the campus, chanting slogans demanding the resignation of the KUET Vice-Chancellor. After the march, a brief protest rally was held in front of the Central Shaheed Minar.
During the rally, students stated that the interim government, which had assumed power with the promise of overthrowing the autocratic Awami regime, had failed to fulfill its commitments. The revolution, achieved through the sacrifice of student lives, is now being betrayed. The recent incidents at KUET send a clear message about the current situation.
Mujtaba Faisal Naeem, a student of the Department of Education, said,"In the politics-free KUET campus, a student political organization, after being obstructed from conducting its activities, attacked innocent students by mobilizing local thugs and affiliate groups. Instead of standing by the students, the KUET administration filed cases and expelled the innocent ones. Even after the interim government assumed power, passing through the bloodstained path paved by the July Revolution and two thousand martyrs, it is now handling the students' rightful demands in the same fascist manner as the Awami League government. This Vice-Chancellor has lost the moral right to remain in office and must be removed immediately."
Touki Ansari, a student of the Department of Statistics, said,"The primary reason we shed blood during the July Revolution was to secure people's rights. If the Interim Government fails to uphold those rights, we will be compelled to bring it to justice. If the administration deceives the students, we will be forced to ignite another July Revolution. From Teknaf to Tetulia, from Rupsha to Paturia, a mass student movement will rise."
Mehedi Hasan Shimanto, a student of the Department of Software Engineering, said,"The brutal attack on students after the July Revolution will remain a dark chapter for us. The traitorous Vice-Chancellor Masud must resign according to the legitimate demands of the students. Standing in solidarity with the KUET students, we declare that if necessary, we will be compelled to organize a Long March to KUET."
