Press confce, human chain in protest of attempted murder in Bagatipar

Members of the victim's family held a press conference in protest of the robbery and attempted murder over a land dispute in Bagatipara, Natore.
The press conference and human chain were held at the Khandaker Malanchi Akcheder Mor area of Bagatipara Sadar Union of the upazila before Saturday evening.
Habibur Rahman, a member of the victim's family, read out a written statement at the press conference. He is the son of Hafizur Rahman of Nurpur Malanchi Elka of the upazila.
In a written statement to the press conference, Habibur Rahman said, "For about 2 months, there was a dispute with Aliuzzaman Bulbul, Anwar Hossain Anar, Mizanur Rahman Fine, Pant, Azizul Islam Hakim of Nurpur Malanchi (Dakshinpara) area of the upazila over the land and the mosque. As a result, on the morning of April 4, when I was going to Tamaltola Bazar, they blocked my path and beat me up. Then on April 9, at around 8:30 pm, when I, my uncle Nurunnabi, and my cousins Majedur Rahman Sajal and Sohanur Rahman reached Akcheder intersection in Khandaker Malanchi village on our way back home, they blocked our path and beat us up and seriously injured us. At that time, they snatched five lakh taka of business cash from my uncle. Later, we were admitted to the hospital and filed a case with Bagatipara Model Police Station. However, they also said that the police have not been able to arrest any of them yet."
At this time, the victim's family and local residents demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and the above punishment. The locals also said that the way these people are being killed is because Allah has given them life. Such a heinous act was not at all appropriate. When Azizul Islam was asked about this, he said that there was a fight between the two sides due to a dispute over land. However, since I am a local member, I have arbitrated for that land several times. And since the arbitrators did not like that, they also made me an accused in this incident. However, this is their family matter.
Rafiqul Islam, OC of Bagatipara Model Police Station, said that a case has been registered in this incident. The operation to arrest the accused is ongoing.
