Partisanship  taking place instead  of fairness,  merit : MP Izzat Ullah

Asaduzzaman Farooqui, Kalaroa (Satkhira)

Instead of fairness and merit, partisanship is being used in the appointment of fertilizer dealers, distribution of family cards, and formation of committees for the salaries of imams, muezzins, and servants, said Principal Muhammad Izzat Ullah, Member of Parliament for Satkhira-1 (Tala-Kalaroa) constituency. He said that efforts are being made to break up the madrasa committees and include people from their own party. “We did not give blood on October 28 for this.”

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a Jamaat-e-Islami protest rally demanding the arrest and trial of those involved in the October 28, 2006 Logi-Baitha attack and murder in Dhaka at the Kalaroa Upazila complex on Wednesday  afternoon.

The rally, chaired by Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Muhammad Kamaruzzaman and moderated by Secretary Maulana Md. Shahidul Islam, was attended by special guests District Jamaat Assistant Secretary Maulana Md. Osman Gani, Unit Member Maulana Md. Omar Ali, Municipal Jamaat Ameer Professor Dr. Yunus Ali Babu and Secretary Md. Alamgir Hossain.

Speakers at the rally demanded that those involved in the October 28 killings be brought to justice, that bribery and corruption be stopped, and that people's voting rights be ensured. After the rally, a protest procession circled the main road of Kalaroa Bazaar.
