Pahela Baishakh celebrated at Betagi

The Bengali New Year was celebrated with various programmes at Betagi in Barguna, with the hope of moving forward on the path of light through the amalgamation of Bengali culture.
Betagi Upazila administration and Udichi Shilpi Goshti jointly organized the programmes including Mangol Shobajatra in front of Betagi Upazila Parishad and Betagi Government College on Sunday.
National anthem was rendered , Bengali new year welcome rally, Mongol procession and discussion were held. Special foods were served in hospital and orphanages.
Under the leadership of Betagi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farooq Ahmad, Principal of Betagi Government College Samar Kumar Bepari, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land ) Bipul Biswas, Editor of the English daily The Country Md. Hemayet Hossain, Betagi Government Pilot Secondary School Principal Golam Kabir spoke on the occasion.
Upazila Women Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, Upazila NGO Sanboy Parishad President Md. Rafiqul Islam, Udichi Shilpi Goshti Fair Celebration Committee Convener Humayun Kabir, Member Secretary Hiranmoy Samaddar, Udichi Shilpi Goshti President Deepak Kumar Guha and General Secretary Manmoth Ranjan Mallick and others were present.
Moreover, a three-day Baishakhi Fair will be held at Bibchini School and College grounds organized by the Udichi Shilpi Goshti.
In the event, the speakers urged to build a non-communal Bangladesh and to work with the spirit of Liberation War and stand against militancy and terrorism.
