Old woman's body recovered from Sangu river in Dohazari

Police recovered the floating body of an old woman named Meena Talukdar (65) from Sangu River in Dohazari Municipality of Chandanish Upazila of Chittagong.

She is the wife of Sukendra Talukdar of Sona Member house in Maijpara area of Bailtali Union of Upazila Ward No. 4.

On Monday noon in the Palpara area of Ward No. 1 of Dohazari Municipality, local residents saw the body of an unidentified woman floating in the Sangu river and informed Ward No. 1 Councilor Abdul Aziz Masum. When Councilor Abdul Aziz Masum informed the police, Sub-Inspectors Bhakta Dutta and Noor Amjad went to the spot and recovered the body floating from the river.

On calling the number found in the vanity bag on the old woman's waist, Taapsee Talukder, in the identity of her daughter-in-law, said, "We spoke with my mother-in-law on Sunday night." He was supposed to see a doctor on Monday morning. He was missing since 5:30 am.

Bhakta Datta, sub-inspector of Chandanish police station, said that it is believed that the old woman fell into the river sometime in the morning.

There are no signs of injury on the body. After the Surathal report, the body will be taken to the police station. The old woman's family has already been informed. Further action will be taken as per law.
