The Faridpur district and divisional conference of the Bangladesh Dolil Lekhok Samity (Deed Writers Association) was held at the historic Ambika Memorial Hall in the town on Saturday to press for the implementation of their seven-point demand. The convention was organized by the Faridpur district unit of the association.
Chaired by Lion Md. Saiful Islam, central vice-president of the association and president of the Faridpur district unit, the conference was attended by Alhaj M.A. Rashid, chairman of the Bangladesh Dolil Lekhok Samity, as the chief guest. Central general secretary K.S. Hossain Thomas spoke as the keynote speaker, while central senior vice-president Alhaj Nurul Haque Miah inaugurated the event. During the session, central, divisional, and district committee leaders were formally welcomed with flowers and honorary crests.
The speakers highlighted the necessity of safeguarding professional interests, achieving fair demands, and reinforcing organizational unity. They stressed that the effective implementation of their long-standing seven-point demand requires immediate and effective initiatives from the authorities concerned, which would ultimately elevate service standards and benefit the country's deed-writing community.
Over 600 deed writers from eight divisions across the country, including the five districts of greater Faridpur, participated in the convention. As part of the event, financial assistance checks of Tk 1 lakh each—totaling Tk 3 lakh—were distributed to the families of three deceased association members. Nurunnahar Begum, wife of the late member Md. Abul Kalam Azad, shared her sentiments upon receiving the aid on behalf of the grieving families.
In the second session of the conference, a new 71-member executive committee for the Faridpur district unit was formed for the 2025–2029 tenure. Lion Md. Saiful Islam was re-elected as the president, and Md. Shafiqul Islam was chosen as the general secretary.
