No decision yet on reopening of educational institutions

Staff Correspondent

Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel on Monday said the government is yet to take any decision on reopening the educational institutes, which have remained closed due to the violence centering the quota reform movement.

He said the cabinet at a meeting discussed the overall situation of the country but no decision was reached on the opening of educational institutions.

Mohibul Hasan told reporters at the Secretariat before a meeting with the leaders of Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association on Universal Pension Scheme.

He said the present conditions do not permit the reopening of educational institutions at this moment.

Earlier, amid the Quota Reform Movement, the Ministry of Education announced the closure of all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions, including schools, colleges, madrasas, technical institutes and polytechnic institutes, until further orders.
