Staff Correspondent
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj underscored that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education is indispensable for the future of Bangladesh. He declared that the government will prioritize play-based learning and early science exposure to build a strong foundation for innovative thinking and scientific temperament from the primary level itself.
The State Minister made these remarks as the chief guest on Monday at the inauguration ceremony of the program titled "Sustaining Play, Learning, and Skills in Humanitarian Contexts" (SPLASH) on Monday.
The event, co-organized by BRAC and the LEGO Foundation, was held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
Announcing a shift away from traditional rote learning, Bobby Hajjaj said, t the government aims to raise a science-minded generation by eliminating "math phobia" and replacing it with early STEM integration.
The State Minister noted that currently, only 20 percent of students in higher secondary education choose the science stream, which is insufficient for building a knowledge-based, technology-driven nation.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, representatives from BRAC and various non-governmental organizations, and media professionals attended the inauguration.
