Muhuri-Kahua Dam to fulfill long-standing expectations of Feni people : Anee

Water Resources Minister Md. Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Coster MP affirmed that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s inauguration of the Muhuri-Kahua dam tomorrow will fulfill a long-awaited demand of Feni residents while safeguarding agriculture, fisheries, and the regional economy.
The Minister made the remarks on Wednesday while inspecting the inaugural site at Ghatghar in Mirzanagar Union under Parshuram Upazila.
The Muhuri-Kahua dam is not merely physical infrastructure; it is a vital initiative to protect the lives, property, agriculture, and livelihoods of people across the greater Noakhali and Cumilla regions, he added.
.He noted that following the catastrophic floods of 2024, the government approved the Tk 1,542 crore rehabilitation project to provide permanent flood defense and sustainable water management.
He added that during his visit on Thursday, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate the rehabilitation project, oversee the distribution of Farmer Cards and Family Cards, and launch honorarium allowance distributions for local imams, muezzins, and temple priests.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakariya Taher MP, State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad MP, and Reserved Seat MP Rehana Akhtar Ranu were present during the inspection alongside senior ministry officials and political leaders.
