A high-level delegation led by Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, MP (Pabna-5), has inspected several potential sites across and around the capital to facilitate the proposed relocation of various inter-district bus terminals and depots out of central Dhaka.
The inspection team departed from the Bangladesh Secretariat in a coaster bus at 3:00 PM on Wednesday (July 1).
During the extensive field visit, the team toured and assessed the feasibility of multiple strategic locations, including Sector 19 of Purbachal, Diabari, the existing Gabtoli Bus Terminal, Chunkutia (Baghair, opposite the central jail), the Teghoria underpass area, Hasnabad (Ikuria), Kanchpur, and Fulbaria, before returning to the Secretariat.
The delegation meticulously reviewed the structural suitability, existing communication and road connectivity networks, and future urban planning prospects of each site. The relocation initiative is part of a broader government strategy to streamline the capital's public transport system and alleviate chronic traffic congestion inside the city.
Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) Shamima Parvin accompanied the lawmaker as a key member of the team, along with other relevant technical and administrative officials.
