In the annual sports competition of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, Dhaka University, the 2nd year student of the Department of World Religion and Culture Md. Mehdi Hasan became the champion and the runner-up was Md. Mamun Reza, a master's student of the Social Welfare and Research Institute. University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Muhammad Samad inaugurated this competition as the chief guest on Thursday morning at the central playground.

At the end of the competition, the vice-chancellor of the university, Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall Principal Prof. Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman presided over both events, President of DU Athletics Committee Professor Dr. Emran Kabir Chowdhury, President of DU Teachers' Association Professor Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, physical education center advisor professor Dr. Asim Sarkar, director of the center. Shahjahan Ali, Proctor Professor Dr. Maksudur Rahman, principal of various halls and resident teachers-students and officials-employees of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall were present.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal said that the aim of higher education is that students will be active in sports, debates, cultural programs and various co-curricular activities in addition to acquiring knowledge in the university premises. And for this purpose every year Dhaka University is taking various initiatives including annual sports competition. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the students to be more involved in co-educational activities besides studies.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad said, Haji Muhammad Mohsin was a generous, humanitarian and charitable personality. He expressed hope that the students of this hall will develop a healthy mind and body by participating in physical exercise and sports regularly and will play a proper role in the development of the country inspired by the ideals of Haji Muhammad Mohsin.

It is to be noted that in the annual sports competition of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, students as well as teachers, officials, employees and volunteers participated in a total of 20 events.
