Meet the Reporters program held in Barishal

Barishal Bureau

Media workers inquire about all people but none of them inquire about them. Political leaders and activists should inquire about media workers. If there is no freedom of the media, there is no democracy in that country. The role of media freedom is very important in a democratic country. Personally, I inquire about journalists according to my ability.

BNP Central Executive Committee member Abu Naser Md. Rahmatullah said thus at the 'Meet the Reporters' program.

The program was held at the Barisal Reporters Unity (BRU) office on Monday.

In response to multiple questions from the journalists present, Abu Naser Md. Rahmatullah said that everyone is aware of the statement of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Criminal activities will not be tolerated by tarnishing the name of the party. He is keeping track of the activities of all BNP leaders in the country. Moreover, since the BNP Acting Chairman has been living in a developed country for a long time, he has been discussing with party leaders and activists in advance how to implement various rules and activities of that country in the country.

And if the party nominates me for any seat, then I will definitely participate in the election as a candidate. Because, as a public leader, various public service activities can be easily done for the people.

In his welcome speech, BRU General Secretary Journalist Khalid Saifullah said, Bangladesh was a 'police state' during the Awami fascist regime. The police were in the field in an active role in the party cadre style. BNP leaders and activists, as well as innocent religious believers, were subjected to repression and oppression across the country. Because, they were detained or arrested with the label of Jamaat-Shibir. During the Awami period, I and my family were subjected to mental and economic torture. My brother was physically and my colleague Nuruzzaman was shot by the police.

The program was presided over by BRU President Anisur Rahman Khan Swapan (New Age), and was attended by the organization's Joint Secretary Russell Hossain (Dakhiner Soomro), Treasurer Md. Nuruzzaman (Kagaz), Shahin Hafiz (Ittefaq), Masud Rana (New Nation), Syed Mehedi Hasan (Dhaka Post), Shaon Khan (Jago News), Rabiul Islam Robi (Bangla Kagaz), Nazmul Fakir (Bangla TV), CH Mahabub Rahman (Amader Barisal) and most of the members of the organization, including most of the local, national and electronic media journalists of Barishal.

The program was hosted by BRU former president Sushant Ghosh.
