A grand festival of corruption is going on  in  Jaldhaka Sub-Registrar office in Nilphamari. Various irregularities have been alleged in the Jaldhaka Sub-Registrar office, including charging extra money per document. The victims made these allegations against the sub-registrar,vendors and document writers. The complaint states that for a long time, various irregularities and corruption activities have been going on, including charging extra money per document without receipts and charging extra money for minor mistakes, in collusion with some leaders of the Document Writers Association.On the condition of anonymity, some land owners and document writers alleged  that even after depositing government fees through the bank, additional money is being collected from us per document. No receipt or voucher is given to us. Even if we ask for a receipt, it is not available. On the contrary, those leaders have to be plagued with questions. Sources say that an additional Tk 18,000 to 25,000  above the deed value of Tk 24,000  and Tk 15,000 to 2,000 below the deed value are being collected daily through a retired employee of the office delivery room without depositing it in the bank. A reliable source says that about 7 to 8 hundred deed registrars register every month. And at the end of the month, this huge amount of money collected is divided between the sub-registrar, some office staff and some  leaders of the Deed Writers; Association. If anyone protests, it becomes difficult to save themselves from being humiliated, let alone the land registry. Besides, if there is a slight mistake in the documents, the donors and recipients have to pay extra money.Several sources at the Jaldhaka Sub- Registrar Office said,  the Sub-Registrar Office is run by a few influential people and office staff of the Deed Writers' Association, just to name a few. The registrar has to do as they please. If some influential document writers are not listened to, they are demanded to be withdrawn or transferred. There are several such examples. They are so powerful that it is difficult to speak against them. As a result, they have been keeping the sub-registrar office under wraps for a long time. The retired  employee who collected the money,Mozammel Hossain, said that when asked about the money being taken, he asked to speak to the sub-registrar. The former president of the Jaldhaka Sub- registrar;s Office Document Writers' Association said, he takes money at small mistakes. He is charging Tk 2500 for a copy.President of  Copyist Association, Jaldhaka  Jaldhaka Committee Zahurul Islam said, we used to charge Tk 1500  for each copy before August, now we collect Tk 2500 for the copy and deposit it in the association, later we all the members will share it, we will continue to take this money and will not accept any obstacles. If anyone has something to do, do it. The price of stamps has been increased. 200/taka stamp is being charged Tk 400.In Nilphamari district town, they are charging 2500/3000 taka for each copy, no one is talking about it. Vendor Rafiqul Islam said, no extra money is charged for the stamp.When asked about the additional money, Sub-Registrar Lutfar Rahman said, I am not aware of any extra money being charged. However, the current government has not increased any fee, and what Zahurul said about the increase in fee is not correct. He also said, no extra money is charged for any irregularities in the document.It can be obtained by contacting the District Registrar.
