Martyrdom anniversary of former president Ziaur Rahman observed in Kalia

At a prayer and discussion meeting commemorating the 44th martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman, BNP Narail district president Bishwas Jahangir Alom declared that the people of Narail will not give shelter to “fair-weather friends.”
The event was held on Wednesday (June 11) at the Dakbangla ground in Kalia Upazila’s town center. It was organized by the Kalia Upazila and Municipal BNP along with their affiliated organizations.
The event was presided over by Kalia Upazila BNP General Secretary Som Wahiduzzaman Milu, and conducted by Municipal BNP President Selim Hossain. Narail District BNP General Secretary Monirul Islam spoke as the keynote speaker.
Among the special guests were Asadur Rahman Mithu, Senior Vice President of Kalia Upazila BNP; Abu Rezaei Rabbi Kamal; former Municipal BNP Member Secretary Moniruzzaman Mona; and Sheikh Shihab Uddin, Senior Joint General Secretary of Municipal BNP.
In their speeches, the leaders strongly criticized what they termed as the "fascist" Awami League government and praised BNP activists for enduring imprisonment and repression while continuing their political struggle.
In his speech, Jahangir Alom said, “There is no place in Narail-1 constituency for those who only show up in good times and vanish during crises. The people have identified such opportunists.”
BNP members from various unions and wards joined the gathering.
