Tourist rush in Kuakata at end of Eid holidays
Gofaran Palash, Kalapara (Patuakhali)
At the end of the 10-day consecutive Eid holidays, the sunrise and sunset beach destination, Patuakhali’s tourism hub, the sea daughter Kuakata, is brimming with tourists. Not a single room is available in hotels and motels. This has brought smiles to the faces of tourism-related business owners.
Meanwhile, tourist spots like Gangamati, Jhaubagan, Shutki Palli, and Lembur forest are also witnessing an increased presence of tourists. The arriving tourists are reveling in excitement across the entire beach area. Many are swimming in the sea. Some are walking hand-in-hand with loved ones from one end of the beach to the other. Others are sitting on benches, enjoying the scenic beauty. The administration members are vigilant in ensuring the safety of the visitors.
Nilanjana-Tanmoy, a couple from Dhaka, said, “We often come to Kuakata. The environment here brings mental peace. However, at the end of the Eid holidays, a huge influx of both local and foreign tourists has descended on Kuakata.”
The president of the Food Hotel Owners’ Association, Md. Kalim, said, “The quality of all food hotels here has improved significantly compared to before, and the prices are also affordable.”
The president of the Kuakata Hotel-Motel Employees’ Association, Ibrahim Wahid, said, “The number of tourists has increased significantly due to the Eid holidays. If the influx of tourists continues like this, we will be able to recover the losses of the past.”
The president of the Kuakata Hotel-Motel Owners’ Association, Abdul Motaleb Sharif, said, “Almost all hotel rooms are booked. We, the hotel authorities, have strengthened security measures for the tourists.”
Assistant Police Superintendent of Kuakata Tourist Police, Habibur Rahman, said, “Adequate police have been deployed at every important location along the beach. Besides the tourist police, the thana, naval, and DB police are also performing their duties. Tourists can enjoy themselves with peace of mind and safety.”
Kalapara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Kuakata Municipal Administrator Md. Yasin Sadek said, “A huge number of tourists are arriving today due to the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, and the number is expected to increase in the coming days.
The Kuakata municipal administration is always ready to serve the tourists. Alongside, the tourist police, thana police, and upazila administration are also prepared.”
