JnU appoints sister of martyred student

JnU Correspondent

In a gesture of solidarity, Jagannath University has appointed Farzana Haque, sister of Ikramul Haque Sajid, a student who was martyred during the student movement against discrimination, as a 'Junior Programmer.'

The official appointment was made today, October 20, on the occasion of the University Day. However, the decision was formalized earlier, on October 17, in a letter signed by the university's acting registrar, Professor Dr. Md. Sheikh Gias Uddin.

Sources reveal that this decision was made following requests from Sajid’s family and the anti-discrimination student activists.

Ikramul Haque Sajid was a student in the 2018-2019 academic year of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at JnU. He was severely injured by police gunfire during the student movement against discrimination and later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
