At Gobindasi Ghat in Bhuapur, Tangail, the bathing ghat is bustling with thousands of pilgrims walking on the Jamuna river on Mahashtami.

Bathing in the Jamuna river adjacent to the Saratala Kalimandi in Khanurbari upazila started on Tuesday (April 16) from dawn.

The fair has started next to the bathing ghat. Vendors are sitting with various types of products in the fair. Aspirants come to bathe in the river Jamuna, hoping for salvation and praying for the well-being of the country and the nation.

Pilgrims from different districts of the country come to Jamuna Ghat to bathe. Devotees perform Ganga Puja during this time. Punyasnan is held on the eighth tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. At this time, many pilgrims come here for holy bath. Pintu Goswami, a priest who worshiped at the ghat, said that Hindus have come to bathe in the Jamuna river in the hope of salvation.

Pilgrims come from different places to take bath. Thousands of candidates poured into the river. On the other hand, there was a bathing festival at Sluisgate area in Bhuanapur. Fairs are organized around the bathing festival.

Abhijit Ghosh, General Secretary of Ashtami Snan Utsav Organizing Committee, said that since early morning, devotees have come to Snan Ghat to perform the puja. All arrangements have been made for the incoming candidates. Prasad is arranged for thousands of devotees. Sufficient number of policemen have been on duty for the safety of the devotees during the bathing festival.

OC of Bhuapur Police Station Ahsan Ullah said, policemen have been deployed at Snan Ghat to ensure security. District police reserve force, thana police and naval police are engaged in law and order work.
