Jamuna Oil Sramik League leader Qutub trying to take control of oil sector with BNP -Jamaat
MR Amin, Chittagong
After the fall of the government, a leader who ran the Shramik League in a shell is now trying to take control of the oil sector with the BNP-Jamaat.
They have already tried to influence the MD of the Company with various issues including recruitment and transfer, besides taking over the company's labor union 'CBA'.
It is alleged that an employee named Qutub Uddin Hossain is leading this chaos and anarchy. He is currently working as a confidential assistant at Patenga Terminal, Yamuna.
Qutub Uddin Hossain was the leader of the CBA Sramik League in Daput of the state-owned company Jamuna Oil Company Limited. During the Awami League government, former education minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel and former local MP MA Latif were unstoppable in the oil sector. Many things of jamuna Oil were determined by his words. BNP-Jamaat supporters were arrested and harassed in his CBA office. Now in the change of power that Jubo League leader Qutb Uddin changed jersey and became BNP overnight.
It has been alleged that Sramik League leader Qutub Uddin is promoting himself as a supporter of BNP by taking photos with central BNP leader Mosaddek Hossain Falu and Chittagong BNP leaders. Besides, several pro-Awami officials and employees of Jamuna Oil Company are trying to create anarchy in this sector.
Currently, Qutub Uddin is working as an assistant at Patenga Terminal in Jamuna. Recently, there are two cases against him in Rangunia, one in Panchlaish of Nagar for assault, murder and Chester during the quota reforms movement.
Several BNP and pro-Jamaat CBA leaders said that Qutb Uddin is determined to take control of the oil sector with his gang. In the meantime, he has tried to influence the company's new MD with various issues including recruitment and transfer, and has also tried to take over the company's labor union 'CBA'. Although Qutub Uddin Hossain was the leader of CBA Sramik League, he changed his shell overnight and became BNP-Jamaat.
It is learnt that 5 percent of the business dividend of Yamuna Oil Company is set aside for the labor union CBA. 10% of the total amount received from this 5% is deposited in the Labor Welfare Fund. 80 percent of the money is distributed equally among the officers and employees every year. The remaining 10 percent is invested. This investment money remains in the trust fund. After retirement, this money is returned to the concerned officers-employees or workers according to their share. This is done as per existing labor laws. At present, about 400 employees are said to have an investment of 60 crore rupees in the company.
An employee of Jamuna Oil, who did not wish to be named, said that the workers have demanded the return of the 10 percent investment. At the same time, everyone agreed not to make new investments. Jamuna Oil Company CBA General Secretary Mohammad yakub filed a case in the Labor Court as the Board of Trustees of Jamuna did not agree to return it. The court ruled in favour of the plaintiff. According to the verdict, the four members of Jamuna's board of trustees agreed to return the investment money. As per the rules, the refund is supposed to be based on the final opinion of the Managing Director (MD) of the company after the recommendation of the Board of Trustees. The recommendation of the board of trustees is currently in the MD's office.
It is alleged that some members of the Sramik League led by Qutub Uddin Hossain tried to harass the former MD of Jamuna in various ways by using the influence of former Education Minister Naufel and Member of Parliament of Bandar-Patenga Constituency MA Latif. After the fall of the government, some of them went to the office of the newly appointed MD and applied pressure to demand their transfer to the main office.
It is known that the PMK was besieged at the Yamuna terminal office at Patenga on September 3 under the leadership of Qutubuddin. They are also trying to occupy the CBA office at the head office. Before the fall of the government, they showed power by talking about Naufel and MP MA Latif, but now they are openly identifying themselves as BNP people. Adviser to BNP Chairperson Mosaddek Ali is trying to prove his BNP by posting pictures of flowers on Facebook.
General Secretary of Jamuna Oil Company CBA, Mohammad Ayakub, said that the workers want their money back as the cost of living has become difficult. At the same time, he gave his opinion in favor of not making new investments. At present, if the fund's 60 crore rupees are divided, each person will get 12-13 lakh rupees.
When asked about this, Qutub Uddin told The Country Today , I have never joined Shramik League. I have been associated with Jamaat politics since 1984. General Secretary Ayakub has politicized Jamuna labour organization CBA and included it in Sramik League. There is no trace of the investment of Tk 80-90 crores of officers and employees. We are protesting the delay in returning the money after the court verdict.
