
Inter-school Debate Competition inaugurated in Khulna

The Inter-school Debate Competition was inaugurated on Tuesday morning at the Conference Hall of Khulna District Shilpakala Academy.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md. Toufiqueur Rahman attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.
In his speech, the chief guest said, debating is a creative medium of education. “Those who begin their journey as debaters today will become the leaders of tomorrow,” he remarked. Debate, he added, helps individuals develop logical reasoning and broadens their knowledge about the country and the world. He emphasized the need to expand school-based debate activities beyond major cities to rural and semi-urban areas, encouraging young people to work for the nation and its people.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas was present as the special guest. The welcome speech was delivered by Sheikh Didarul Alam, senior journalist and Convener of the Inter-School Debate Competition. Md. Fuad Hossain, representative of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and former debater Sarwar-e-Akter also spoke on the occasion.
The event was organized by Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), with support from the Khulna Prantika Residential Area Welfare Association.
Later, the chief guest officially inaugurated the Inter-School Debate Competition.
A total of 32 students from eight schools in Khulna city are participating in the competition. The final round, scheduled for October 16, will see Khulna Public College and Navy School and College face each other for the championship title.
