Mirpur factory and chemical warehouse fire: 7-member probe body formed

A seven-member probe body has been formed in connection with the devastating fire at a garment factory and a chemical warehouse in Shialbari area of Mirpur that claimed the lives of 16 people.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence formed a committee to look into the fire.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohamamd Tajul Islam Chowdhury, director of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD), was made the chairman of the committee while the other members of the committee include—Md Yeasir Arafat Khan, Atish Chakma, Siadul Alam Chowdhury, Sohrab Hossain, Fasir Uddin, and Saleh Uddin.

Meanwhile, the autopsy of ten more victims who died in the fire, was conducted on Thursday, said Mukhlesur Rahman Laskar, sub-inspector of Rupnagar Police Station.

All of them were unidentified but aged between 15-30 years.

The DNA samples of all the victims were collected and samples of DNA were sent to the CID, he said.

16 people were killed as a devastating fire broke out at the readymade garment factory NR Garments and a chemical warehouse in the Shialbari area of Rupnagar Residential Zone in Mirpur of the capital on Tuesday.
