Inter-city train engine derailed,15 passengers injured in Bhairab

The inter- city Egarosindhur train derailed at Bhairab Bazar rail station on Friday morning at 9.25 am departing from Dhaka halted. The final destination of the train is Kishoreganj.

At this time, three more compartments were damaged.

At least 15 passengers of that train were injured in this incident. Injured passengers were admitted to Bhairab rail clinic and Bhairab government hospital.

Talking to Bhairab railway station authorities and passengers, it is said that a pair of Egarsindhur trains travel from Dhaka to Kishoreganj every day. The train (737) left Kamalapur station at 7:15 am.

The driver failed to control the speed while connecting the engine of the train to the coach. When the engine pushed the carriage hard, the first carriage derailed with a loud noise. At this time, the doors of the next three compartments were broken and the window glass fell and 15 passengers injured.

When contact to Bhairab Bazar Rail Station Master. Md. Nurunnabi told the New Nation that, the accident occurred due to high speed while turning the engine. The driver of the train has not been found since the accident.

He thinks that the accident happened due to irresponsibility of the driver.

A relief train has left from Akhaura to rescue the derailed coach. However, the accident on the platform did not cause any problem to the movement of other trains
