The construction work of Kumdi Durgapur-Nazarpur Firingitila Bridge of No. 15 Pailarkandi Union will start soon at a cost of Tk 4 crore. If the bridge is constructed, the long-term suffering of the local people will be reduced. It is known that the bridge adjacent to Kumdibazar, built about half a century ago, has become impassable.

Connecting Baniachang upazila of Habiganj district and Ashtagram upazila of Kishoreganj district, Durgapur-Kumri-Nazarpur Bazar is on the other side of this bridge and Kadamchal-Firing Tila-Manoharpur village is on the other side.

The bridge has been a blessing for the market-market communication and daily needs of thousands of people from across the river for several decades after independence. This bridge is the only hope to cross the river during monsoon. But at present its condition is deplorable and the communication between the two upazilas has declined a lot.

At present the bridge is almost impassable. As a result, pedestrians are taking risks on that bridge every day. Accidents can happen at any time. Locals said that the local people have been demanding for a long time to build a bridge at this place but they have not got any benefit. The people of this region have not seen the light of hope till now.

For ages, people have had to cross the river through this dangerous bridge. Locals demand to remove the dangerous bridge and build a new bridge at that place.

Regarding Habiganj-2 Constituency MP Advocate Moiz Uddin Sharif Ruel said, construction of this bridge was my election promise.

Already, a demand letter has been given showing the cost of 4 crores to demolish the Firingitila bridge and construct a new bridge. We hope that soon new horizons of communication between the two upazilas will be opened. Their dreams will come true.
