The executive committee for the 2024-25 term of the Jagannath University Journalist Association (JnUJA) has been formed. The newly elected president is Imran Hossain from Samakal, and the general secretary is Mahatab Limon from Dhaka Post. The election was held today (Sunday) at the office of the Jagannath University Journalist Association.

Asadul Islam from The Peoples Time has been elected vice-president, and Sajedur Rahman from Daily Alokito Bangladesh as joint general secretary. Junaid Sheikh from Daily Kaler Kantho has been appointed organizational secretary, and Sakerul Islam from Daily Jugantor as office secretary. Nur Alam from Daily Naya Diganta has been selected finance secretary.

Furthermore, Mosfiqur Rahman Imon from Daily Somoyer Alo and Abdullah Al Mamun from Daily Amar Sangbad have been elected as executive members.

Earlier, as no competing candidates were present, Imran Hossain was elected president, Mahatab Limon as general secretary, Sajedur Rahman as joint general secretary, Nur Alam as finance secretary, and Sakerul Islam as office secretary last Thursday.

The Chief Election Commissioner for this election was Solaiman Salman, Senior Staff Reporter of The New Age, General Secretary of the Education Reporters Association of Bangladesh (ERAB), and former president of the Jagannath University Journalist Association.

The election commissioners included Rashim Molla, Staff Reporter of Daily Manab Zamin and former organizational secretary of JnUJA, and Jubair Hossain Sami, News Editor of Daily Bhorer Dorpon and former vice-president of JnUJA.

After the election, the newly elected members met with the university administration. During this meeting, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim congratulated the newly elected members, expressing hope that journalists would continue to report facts through their work and take on greater responsibility in leading the campus forward.

Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmin, Proctor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tazammol Hoque, Director of the Public Relations Department Associate Professor Anwarus Salam, Assistant Proctors of the university, former president of the Journalist Association Mahmudul Hasan Tanvir, former general secretary Mohammad Mamun Sheikh, and members of the Journalist Association were also present.
